SPUTNIK D. SATELLITE

music: "Sputnik" Jerry Engler; 1957

Hi. I'm the guy who started it all so who knows more about the Satellite Era than me? It all started in late 1957 but really...erm...took off in late '58. For five years the unmanned satellites dominated the scene with the Russians and USA puttin' 'em up at a 3-per-month clip. Us Sputniks, Exporers, Tiros Weather: Even a few (very) Vanguards made it without falling flat on their faces. And who can forget Telstar, Which, like me, was celebrated with music. There were some manned flights but we were where it was at. Cape Canaveral was aka "Malfunction Junction".. And I was here before them all.

I hang out at places where the music is true to the times. Beatles? No, we don't have no Beatles. We don't need no stinkin' Beatles. We do the Bop, the Watusi, the Pony, the Mashed Potato and the Twist is king along with Elvis Presley and Brenda Lee is Queen.

So Dude...

LET THE SOUNDS THAT PUT ME IN ORBIT PUT YOU IN ORBIT!
